I saw Casella placing both trash and recycling in the same truck. Are the materials being mixed together?
Great question! On many of our routes, Casella operates what are known as split-body trucks. With a split-body truck, the trash and Zero-Sort recycling are dumped into the same opening on the truck but are separated by different compartments. Can I put construction debris in my trash container?
No. Trash containers are intended for municipal solid waste (household trash) only. For disposing of construction debris please call 800-CASELLA to discuss renting a dumpster.

Is there a set time each week my trash and recycle will be picked up?
Unfortunately there is no set time. Please place containers at the curb the night before your scheduled pickup day.

If I cancel my service or place my account on hold prior to the last pickup of the month, will I receive a credit?
Our billing is monthly so if you have any service during the month you will be billed for the entire month.

What is Zero-Sort recycling?
Zero-Sort recycling is Casella's state-of-the-art process, which enables all recyclables - paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, and metal cans to be collected in one container eliminating the need for you to separate recyclables.

How should I prepare my recyclables?
Recyclables should be rinsed clean of any food waste. Corrugated cardboard boxes should be broken down into 18" x 18" max pieces. Lids and caps can remain on empty plastic bottles. DO NOT tie newspaper or cardboard with twine.

Can I put grocery bags into my Zero-Sort recycling bin?
No. Plastic bags or films of any kind are not accepted in Zero-Sort recycling. To recycle grocery bags, please bring them to a participating grocery or retail store near you.

Do I need to bag my Zero-Sort recycling?
No. Do not place your Zero-Sort recycling into bags. It is preferable that your recyclables be placed directly into your Zero-Sort recycling container.

What are large rigid plastics?
Items made of plastic, which include laundry baskets, 5-gallon pails, plastic chairs and general household items.

How should I properly recycle large items that won't fit inside my container?
Please call 800-CASELLA to schedule a pickup if you have large materials that do not fit inside your curbside container.

Where do I find my Zero-Sort recycling pickup schedule for every other week service?
We mail out calendars throughout the year to all our new customers. All customers will receive a new calendar at the beginning of each year.

Where can I buy earthlife products?
We specialize in the delivery of full truckloads of material to farms, fields, garden centers and construction sites. earthlife products for home and small business usage are found at a variety of garden and landscape centers throughout New England. If your local retailer doesn’t carry earthlife, please suggest that they do!

Does Casella offer food scrap collection in my area?

What are biosolids?
Biosolids are the nutrient-rich organic byproducts resulting from wastewater treatment. Biosolids have been treated and tested and meet strict federal and state or provincial standards for use as fertilizers and soil amendments. Biosolids provide plant nutrients and organic matter to soils. They can also be used to produce energy through digestion and production of methane ("biogas") or by drying and thermal processing.
