Since 1977 we have helped pioneer the field of recycling. Annually, led by our Zero-Sort recycling facilities, we recover over 650,000 tons of materials that include paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass.

Recycling provides a perfect example of the teamwork involved in successful resource management. Households and businesses do their part to separate recyclable materials from their trash, and we do our part to collect, sort, and process them into high-quality raw materials for manufacturers to use in new products. Recycling works best when we all play our parts well.

We live in a closed-loop environment. Everything is connected. An innovative approach to managing today’s waste includes the realization that renewing the life-cycle of the products we consume is a critical step in reducing waste. The concept of managing solid waste means giving trash new purpose and a new life. It’s about turning waste into a resource.

From our first recycling center in Vermont in 1977 to our current infrastructure of seven recycling facilities, Casella has pioneered the recycling processing field. Today, Casella is leading the industry with investments in recycling infrastructure, research and development driving the next generation of recycling technologies, and innovative recycling programs that are making recycling easier for our customers.

Casella commits that 100% of non-contaminated recyclables that it receives and processes are sold to end markets to be made into new products or put to beneficial use. Casella's Pledge on Plastic Recycling

Concerns about plastic in the environment are at the top of everyone’s mind and constantly in our news cycle. Casella is a committed partner in the effort to solve this monumental problem. We pledge that all plastics collected on our residential recycling routes and processed in our Zero-Sort recycling facilities will not be shipped to locations outside of North America. We are dedicated to establishing new, responsible domestic partners to identify end-markets and find a higher and better use for our materials.

Zero-Sort Recycling

Zero-Sort® is the single bin recycling service that puts more of your discarded materials back into the world and less of it into the landfill. No sorting of recyclable material on your end makes recycling quick and easy. Just focus on filling the bin and we take care of the rest. Our Zero-Sort facilities handle many types of recyclables including cardboard, paper, plastic and metal cans that are baled, remarketed and transformed into new products.

Brokerage Services

Are you managing a distribution center, municipality or retail location that bales its own commodities such as cardboard, paper or plastic? Industrial/Specialty Recycling

Whether you are a manufacturer, institution, municipality or other commercial generator, you likely generate difficult to manage or non-traditional recyclables not acceptable in Zero-Sort Recycling programs. Casella partners with our customers to determine viable solutions – economic and environmental – to managing these streams. Coupled with our ability to manage recycling solutions for non-salable consumer products, Casella can work with your location to find effective solutions for your streams – whether the material is loose in gaylords, palletized, baled, or packaged.
We collect, separate and process over 100 commodities on behalf of our customers, packaged and delivered in myriad forms and consistencies. Some of the more common streams we deal with are the following:

- Scrap metals, ferrous and non-ferrous
- PP, PS, HDPE, LDPE, PET, Nylon, Cotton
- Kraft bags, butt rolls, cores
- Reels, hosing, films

Managing Non-Salable Consumer Goods

A resource solution to maximize material recovery and specialty processing or disposal of off-spec, expired or otherwise non-salable consumer goods. Casella provides depackaging and disposal services for a wide range of manufactured consumer products. We work with a proprietary network of facilities and logistics partners across the country to offer this service to customers as part of our comprehensive resource solutions.
Casella will arrange and manage all freight and logistics, identify and qualify outlets for disposal or recovery, generate certificates of destruction and comply with all local, state or federal regulations and requirements.
